Lagos trains more 400 youth on product marketing & cable installation

As part of efforts by the present administration to promote to promote the socio-economic wellbeing of the young people in Lagos State, the Ministry of Youth and Social Development has commenced another empowerment training programme for 400 youths as sales representatives and cable installers.

The two-week training programme is being held simultaneously at two different youth centres in Ikeja and Ikorodu for the convenience of the participants.

Speaking at the commencement of the programme recently, the State Commissioner in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Pharm. (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf noted that the training which will cut across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the State is aimed at empowering and building the capacity of youths in order to reduce the unemployment rate and discourage crave by young people for non-existing white collar jobs.

She added that, “The training is in line with the commitment of the State government to promote and encourage the acquisition of technical skills as a major instrument for youth empowerment, job and wealth creation.”

Also speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said the Ministry places much priority on the development of young people in the State due to the fact that they constitute its largest population and are recognised as the future pillars of the nation.

He, however, admonished the trainees to demonstrate high level of commitment, dedication and passion that will take them to greater heights during the training programme.
