Equities extend losses as market capitalization declined by N13 billion down to N8.765 trillion.
Consequently, the All Share Index sheds 37.69 basis points to close at 25,461.35 points.
However, volume of trades increased from 112 million shares traded in the previous session to 120 million shares traded today, while value recorded N1.19 billion as against N858 million, representing a 38.15 per cent incline from the previous trading level.
Transactions in the shares of Diamond Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, Skye Bank Plc and FBN Holdings Plc topped the activity chart as most traded equities by volume.
The key sectors exhibit mixed sentiment as the Oil and Gas sector closed the day lower for the second consecutive trading session to top losers’ chart with a loss of 3.4 per cent, mostly driven by selling pressure in Forte Oil Plc and Total Nigeria Plc.
Conversely, the Financial Services sector posted a positive daily return of 0.1 per cent, buoyed by price appreciation in African Prudential Registrar Plc, Unity Bank Plc and Skye Bank Plc, while the Industrial and the Consumer Goods sectors traded flat.
The market breadth remains negative with 17 decliners against 11 advancers.
Total Nigeria Plc led the losers chart with N13.45 kobo to close at N255.58 kobo per share, followed by Forte Oil Plc with N8.05 kobo loss to close at N74.62 kobo, PZ Plc, National Salt Company of Nigeria Plc (NASCON) and UAC-Property Plc losses N0.50 kobo, N0.36 kobo and N0.13 kobo per share respectively to close the day at N14.49 kobo, N7.19 kobo and N2.67 kobo in that order.
On the gainers chart, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc top the gainers table with N5.00 kobo to close at N195.01 kobo from N190.01 kobo. It was followed by Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc with N0.85 kobo to close at N17.85 kobo and Champion Breweries Plc with a gain of N0.19 kobo to close at N2.45 kobo from N2.26 kobo per share. While African Prudential Registrars Plc and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc gain of N0.13 kobo and N0.06 kobo per share.
