Investors loses N9bn in equity market

At the close of trading activities on the equity segment of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) today, the market capitalisation dipped by N9 billion to close at N8.775 trillion.
The All Share Index also lost 26.30 basis points or 0.10 per cent to close at 25,490.70 points from 25,517.00 basis point it opened.
Value traded during the day rose by 1.2 per cent to N1.1 billion, volume traded edged lower by 41.4 per cent to settle at 97.1 million units.
Shares of International Breweries Plc, Access Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc and FBN Holdings Plc were the most traded in toast of investors during the day.
However, sentiment mixed across key sectors, Industrial goods closed flat, while the Financial Services sector closed the day higher with a gain of 0.1 per cent mostly driven by bargain hunting in African Prudential Registrars Plc, Wema Bank Plc and FCMB Plc.
On the flip side, the Oil and Gas sector trailed with a negative daily return of 1.3 per cent weighed by bearish trading in the likes of Total Nigeria Plc and Forte Oil Plc.
Similarly, the Consumer Goods sector posted a loss of 0.1 per cent underscored by price depreciation in International Breweries Plc and Nigerian Breweries Plc, while the Industrial Goods sector traded flat.
The market breadth close negative as 16 stocks appreciated higher than 19 of yesterday, while 13 stocks declined higher than 11 of yesterday.
Mobil Nigeria Plc top the gainers table with N3.99 kobo to close at N199.02 kobo. It was followed by Flour Mill of Nigeria Plc with N0.75 kobo to close at N19.49 kobo and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc with a gain of N0.21 kobo to close at N21.52 kobo. While African Prudential Registrars Plc and FBN Holdings Plc gain of N0.13 kobo and N0.05 kobo per share respectively to close at N2.79 kobo and N3.05 kobo separately.
On the other hand, Total Nigeria Plc led the losers chart with N22.00 kobo to close at N223.00 kobo per share, followed by Okomu Oil Plc with N1.92 kobo loss to close at N40.08 kobo, Forte Oil Plc, International Breweries Plc and Nigerian Breweries Plc losses N1.00 kobo, N0.80 kobo and N0.32 kobo per share respectively to close the day at N69.00 kobo, N18.70 kobo and N141.00 kobo in that order.
