Buhari sacks FRC boss, Jim Obazee for intervene in religion matters

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate removal and the replacement of the Executive Secretary of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRN), Jim Obazee over controversial Code of Corporate Governance for Non-Governmental Organisations Churches and Mosques in the country.
It would be recalled that the controversial code of conducts which stipulated that the overall leaders of Churches and Mosques must not exceed 20 year and must not handover to their relatives prompted the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) to restructured the Church hierarchy.
The General Oversea of the Church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye had on Saturday January 7, 2017 during the minister annual thanksgiving announced the Church new restructuring.
The Church appointed Pastor Obayemi as the oversea for RCCG Nigeria, while Pastor Adeboye elevated to General Oversea Worldwide.
According to a statement from Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu released this evening, President Buhari approved immediate removal and the reconstitution of the board of the FRN.
He has appointed a Chairman and a new Executive Secretary for the council. The new Council as approved by the President has Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman, MFR as Chairman.
Mr. Sulaiman was a former Managing Partner/Director of Arthur Anderson and later, Accenture. He is a Chartered Accountant and a product of the University of Lagos and Harvard Business School.
The President has also approved the appointment of Mr. Daniel Asapokhai as the Executive Secretary of the Council.
Mr. Asopokhai is a partner and a Financial Reporting Specialist at the PricewaterHouseCoopers (PWC), Nigeria.
He is a product of the University of Lagos and the University of Pretoria.
President Muhammadu Buhari has also instructed the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment to invite the nineteen ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government and private sector organizations specified in the FRC Act to nominate members of the board of the council.
