NIPR seeks enduring partnership with LCCI
THE Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has proposed an enduring partnership with the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in the area of training and manpower development. The President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Rotimi Oladele said the partnership is not limited to training alone but that the Institute will organize certification courses leveraging on its existing association with reputable local and international training institutions/universities.
Oladele, who paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of LCCI, with some key members of the Institute on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, also reiterated that NIPR can reach out to the organized private sector through LCCI, to help eliminate quackery and enhance professionalism by ensuring that only certified public relations practitioners are engaged for effective communication, relationship and reputation management. In addition, he said the Institute will share Data with LCCI, leveraging on the chamber’s Economic Intelligence Reports/Forecasts to assist in taking critical business decisions.
Dr. Nike Akande, CON, president, LCCI, who was on hand to welcome the officials of NIPR, expressed her delight to meet with her guests. She commended the executives of NIPR for the giant strides in “entrenching and sustaining professionalism at its peak in the Public Relations practice in Nigeria and for the thoughtful initiative to visit the chamber.” While accepting to support and collaborate with NIPR in the promotion of the private sector development and the Nigerian economy. Akande also used the occasion to intimate her guests on the activities of the chamber.
According to her, LCCI’s major activities include public policy advocacy, trade promotion, trade fairs and exhibitions and business development services. She however admitted that the afore-mentioned cannot be successful without Public Relations and Communications. She added that now that Nigeria has finally come out of recession, “we urge you as image makers, to help amplify this to the world, in such a way that it would attract prospective investors and build their confidence in the enterprise called Nigeria.”
