Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has issued a firm response regarding the recent allegations of selling petrol to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) at N898 per liter.
In a detailed statement, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, categorically refuted the claims made by NNPCL spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye.
Chiejina emphasised that the accusations were not only misleading but also malicious, designed to undermine the significant progress achieved by the refinery.
He highlighted that the attention of Dangote Group was brought to the misleading statement attributed to the NNPCL spokesperson, which suggested that the refinery supplied PMS at a rumors price to NNPCL.
The clarification serves to uphold the integrity and reputation of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, reaffirming their commitment to transparency and fair business practices.
The company remains dedicated to providing quality products at competitive prices, in line with industry standards and ethical principles.
He urged Nigerians to disregard the malicious statement and await a formal announcement on the pricing, by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, which will commence on October 1, 2024, bearing in mind that our current stock of crude was procured in dollars.
“It should also be noted that we sold the products to NNPCL in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing. With this action, there will be petrol in every local government area of the country regardless of their remote nature.”
We assure Nigerians of the availability of quality petroleum products and putting an end to the endemic fuel scarcity in the country, the statement said.
