Mr. Alokwe Caleb Arinze, a resident of No. 1 Ekele Village in Akwu-Ukwu, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has recounted a harrowing attack that claimed the lives of his family members and razed his home.

According to Arinze, the attack occurred in the early hours of February 1, 2025, around 1:30 am, when suspected herdsmen invaded his residence. The assailants, he said, slaughtered everyone at sight in the house and set the building ablaze.

Arinze, who identified himself as the local leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), believes the attack was politically and ethnically motivated. “The Fulani herdsmen had been threatening me because they knew my group had been resisting their activities around our farmlands,” he said.

Fortunately, Arinze was not at home during the attack, having gone into hiding due to previous threats. He reported the incident to the police and provided documented evidence of his complaint.

Security agencies have since pledged to investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
