Nestle, Flour Mill, 17 others surges mid-week equity trading by N19bn

Transactions in the equities segment of the Nigerian Stock Exchange ended eight day losing streak today as gain recorded by Nestle Nigeria Plc, Flour Mills Plc and 17 others increased the bourse market capitalization by N19 billion.
The last trading day the equity market recorded positive trend was 10th of November 2016 which was N17 billion.
Meanwhile, equities have lost a total value of N262 billion between November 10 and yesterday trading.
At the end of mid-week trading, the index and market capitalization closed higher at 25,517.00 basis points and N8.784 trillion respectively.
Volume of trades increased from 120 million shares traded in the previous session to 165 million shares traded today, while value recorded N1.13 billion as against N1.19 billion, representing a 5.01 per cent decline from the previous trading level.
Transactions in the shares of Diamond Bank Plc, Access Bank Plc, FBN Holdings Plc, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc and Skye Bank Plc topped the activity chart as most traded equities by volume.
The NSE All Share Index and all sector indices closed in green save for NSE Oil & Gas Index and NSE Premium Board Index which shed 1.22 per cent and 0.06 per cent respectively while NSE Alternate Securities Market Index (Asem) remained flat.
The market breadth close positive as 19 gainers recorded compared to 11 of yesterday, while 11 decliners were recorded against 17 of yesterday.
Nestle Nigeria Plc top the gainers table with N10.00 kobo to close at N810.00 kobo from N800.00 kobo. It was followed by CAP Plc with N0.93 kobo to close at N33.00 kobo and Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc with a gain of N0.89 kobo to close at N18.74 kobo from N17.85 kobo per share. While P. Z. Plc and GlaxoSmithKline Plc gain of N0.71 kobo and N0.46 kobo per share respectively to close at N15.20 kobo and 14.00 kobo separately.
On the other hand, Total Nigeria Plc led the losers chart with N10.58 kobo to close at N245.00 kobo per share, followed by Forte Oil Plc with N4.62 kobo loss to close at N70.00 kobo, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, African Prudential Registrars Plc and Dangote Sugar Plc losses N1.90 kobo, N0.12 kobo and N0.06 kobo per share respectively to close the day at N36.10 kobo, N2.66 kobo and N6.00 kobo in that order.
