Nestle Nigeria Plc, producers of Golden Morn and other beverages, has unveiled a new eco-friendly Golden Morn to enhanced economic growth and development.

The Managing Director of Nestle, Wassim Elhusseini, said this at the “Rebirth of the King of Breakfast” event in Lagos.

Elhusseini was represented at the event by the Commercial Manager, Mr Boladale Odunlami.

Speaking at the event, Elhusseini described Golden Morn as a symbol of nourishment and pride for millions of families across Nigeria.

He said that one of the things that make Golden Morn truly special was that the ingredients used in its production was 100 percent sourced in Nigeria.

According to him, from its humble beginning, Golden morn has become a beloved meal for families nourishing both children and adults alike.

He said that every spoonful of Golden Morn was a testament to the dedication and hard work of Nigerian farmers.

“We are proud to say that the soya and maize used in producing Golden Morn are sourced locally.

“By sourcing our ingredients locally, we do not just ensure that they are remain fresh, but we are also investing positively in our local economy,” Elhusseini said.

Also speaking, the Category Manager, Dairy, Mr Omofasa Orhiunu, noted that Golden Morn, as a brand, is dedicated to nourishing Nigerians.

According to him, Golden Morn is a nutritious meal that is convenient to prepare and suitable to adults and children.

He said that by sourcing ingredients locally for its production, Golden Morn impacts positively the Nigerian economy.

For the Corporate Communication/ Public Affaira and Sustainability Lead, Victoria Uwadoka, Nestle was very strong around creating shared value.

“For us, there are three pillars that are important; individuals and families, community and planet, that is why the packaging today is very important.

“We are committed to developing products that are not only good for you but good for the planet.

‘We have committed to ensuring that all our packages are 95 percent recyclable or reusable by 2025,” Uwadoka said.

She said that Nestle had made a strong commitment to sustainability and circular economy.

“Currently, over 80 per cent of our packaging materials have been optimised for recycling to address the plastic waste crisis.

“As we introduce this new packaging, we are really excited with optimism.

“We remain committed to continuous improvement and explore continuous innovation,” Uwadoka said.

She noted that Nestle Nigeria had supported farmers in environmentally friendly agriculture, training in modern farming techniques, access to post harvest care and improved seedlings.

‘A good numbers of farmers have been granted access to finance and capacity building.

“By helping farmers improve their yields, we are affirming our commitment to nourish Nigeria,” Uwadoka said.

On how the company have navigated through the challenges of high cost of ingredients, Uwadoka said that Nestle had been in existence for over fifty years.

“What that means is that we have enough experience of the environment in Nigeria.

“Yes, there are challenges of inflation and high cost of ingredients, but we know how to navigate through them for sustainability.

“We have been working with local farmers for over 18 years, we ensure that we are building their capacity.

“When there are challenges, we know how to optimise our operation to ensure that we remain sustainable in the country,” she said.

The climax of the event was the unveiling of the new package of Golden Morn to the delight of everyone present.
