Manchester United sign world most expensive footballer for £89m
Manchester United Football Club has signed world most expensive player, Paul Pogba from Italian football club, Juventus.

Pogba who left Manchester United for Juventus in 2012 for £1.5 million in 2012 cost English club team world-record of £89 million.

It will be the first time in 20 years an English club has set a world-record transfer fee, after Newcastle United paid £15 to sign England striker Alan Shearer from Blackburn Rovers for £15m.

He joined United from French club Le Havre in 2009 as a 16 year old, but made just a handful of appearances before his contract expired in July 2012.

The 23-year-old signed a five year contract with the option of a sixth season after United agreed a deal with Juventus.

The £89 million figure makes Pogba world most expensive player which eclipses the £85 million that Real Madrid paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale in 2013.

Pogba left United four years ago for a nominal fee, and went on to win four Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia twice.

He is Mourinho’s fourth signing at United, after Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly, Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Armenia forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Speaking to MUTV he said, “I just came back to Carrington. It was like I’d just come back home. I just went for a holiday.”

Pogba said his mum told him he would return to Old Trafford and that it was his “destiny”, adding: “
