Mid-week trading rises by 0.23%

The Nigerian equities market sustained upward trend as bourse added 0.23 percent today to peg the year-to-date returns at 24.71 percent.
The index and market capitalization closed higher at 33,514.93 basis points and N11.551 trillion respectively. The market breadth remained in favour of the bull as green surmounted with 26 symbols against 25 symbols in red domain.
Transnational Incorporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) led the gainer’s chart with 8.76 percent from N1.37 kobo it opened to close at N1.49 kobo per share. It was followed by PZ Nigeria Plc with 5.00 percent gain from N21.00 kobo to end at N22.05 kobo per share, while Skye Bank Plc appreciated by 5.00 percent, from N0.60 kobo to close at N0.63 kobo per share.
On the lose’s table, MRS Plc led with -4.99 percent from N64.54 kobo to close the day at N35.41 percent. Presco Plc dropped -4.99 percent, from N64.54 kobo per share to N61.32 kobo, while Jaiz Bank Plc dropped -4.76 percent to close at N0.63 kobo from N0.60 kobo per share.
Volume of trades closed at 331 million shares in contrast to 2.40 billion shares traded in previous session representing a decline of 86.21 percent, while value also recorded 3.24 billion as against 21.61 billion representing 84.98 percent reduction from previous trading levels. Transactions in the shares of Zenith Bank Plc, UBA Plc, First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc, Custodian Insurance Plc and NEM Insurance Plc topped the activity chart as most traded equities as measured by volume.
The NSE All Share Index and all sector indices closed upbeat save for NSE Lotus Insurance Index (-0.74 percent), NSE Insurance Index (-0.54 percent), NSE Industrial Index (-0.47 percent) while NSE Consumer Goods Index and NSE Alternative Securities Market Index (NSE ASEM) closed flat.
